Legislation around cannabis

The legislation surrounding cannabis and its products is a complex subject. In this section, we will explain it all to you, so that you will know what is equal and what is not. Legislation around cannabis

Cannabis and Cannabis

Before talking about legislation, it is important to master several pieces of information related to the subject :

What is the difference between hemp and cannabis ?

Let's not beat around the bush, there is no difference between cannabis and hemp :

  • Hemp is cannabis
  • Cannabis is hemp

It is neither more nor less than the same plant, however the name hemp, or industrial hemp, is preferentially used for cannabis used in industry, for example for the production of fiber, edible hemp oil, CBD oil, and hundreds of other existing uses. In France, the law authorizes the cultivation of selected plants (Cannabis Sativa), with a THC level lower than 0.2%.Cannabis, or should we say cannabis, is a family of plants grouping several sub-genus :

  • Cannabis Sativa or industrial hemp which has a very high concentration of CBD (cannabidiol), and a negligible amount of THC (less than 0.2%)
  • Cannabis Indica, rich in THC, and low in CBD
  • Cannabis Ruderalis, low in both CBD and THC

The two most widely used plant varieties are industrial hemp, and Cannabis Indica. Only the cultivation of the Sativa variety is authorized, the THC rate having to be lower than 0,2 % in accordance with the regulation in force in France, and in Europe. Thus all the products, like the oil of CBD come from the cannabis Sativa, with a rate of THC in the finished product of 0 %, in order to be authorized with the sale

The CBD

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a cannabinoid in which the interest of scientists and the general public continues to grow. CBD is the cannabinoid with the highest concentration in industrial hemp and the second highest in recreational hemp. Since the year of its discovery, CBD has been the subject of a large number of studies, more than 1,500, which demonstrates the growing interest of the scientific world for this molecule full of future. These scientific researches have made it possible to discover the great therapeutic potential of CBD: anxiolytic, painkiller, and antioxidant, etc. If you want to stay healthy and enjoy a better quality of life, then you'd better make CBD oil your ally.

THC

THC, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is, like cannabidiol, a cannabinoid, found in large quantities in the flowers of the cannabis plant. This molecule has highly psychoactive effects, which alter many physiological and biochemical processes in the brain. These effects can cause a change in perception, physiological, mood, but also change the state of consciousness of the consumer. Tetrahydrocannabinol binds to CB1 receptors in the human body. There is a synthetic form of THC, used for the creation of drugs like Sativex.
